I recently picked up a couple of these M88 Sealions in reasonable condition, and this is the first, a white dialled model from 1967…

After spending quite some time getting inside the tricky one piece case, I discovered that the movement, although not running, was in excellent condition., the hands were in great shape and the dial was perfect. A full service, polish and new strap soon followed… it turned out pretty well.
Well worth the effort I think!

I bought this watch in 1967 and it worked until about 2002 an excellent watch, probably needs a service.
I have the very same watch, it has been handed down to me from my great grandfather. I was cleaning out some boxes and found it in an old tobacco tin. The face was all smashed up and the band was an old mans elastic one. I have spent a small fortune but it looks just like yours. I still stop and just watch it tick and listen to the loud movement as it moves.
I have other watches modern and worth more, but this one is the only one people comment on.
Great that you managed to get the watch up and running again Tim! Wear it in good health and thanks for sharing your story.
Rich.
